The King is Benelli's new concept gun, featuring an age-old design. We infused the technology of the 828U with the look of nature. We were inspired by the flight of birds and their aerial trajectories. Of the many species we have chosen one: observing the planar dynamics of the Mallard, we developed a graphic alphabet that we have engraved in steel. The King is a confirmation of the idea that no art is purely abstract. Decorations, even when they seem to arrange themselves according to an ornate symmetry, are simply ploughing scenes, the subjugation of land transformed by man. A provenance that is easier to understand in scenes with a hound tracking in the fields of wheat or in the detailed descriptions of Mallards in formation. Drawing on natural elements, the concept - a collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino, with the artist Andrea Guerra and Professor Gianluca Murasecchi - is the imitation of movement in movement: the lithe motion that takes place in space, but also the miracle of the iridescent plumage of the Mallard, an antidote to stagnation. The energy of the colour is expressed in the variations of the materials used to cover the fore-end and grip (crocodile, snake or suede leather), in the transition between woods and metals, in the intonation between the luminous and the more subtle effects.
